Pre & Post Natal Pilates
**If you are attending a Pre or Post natal class for the first time please ensure you arrive 10 minutes before the class starts.**
Our pre and post natal pilates teachers are highly knowledgeable and specialist in their field. All of our teachers are fully qualified in pre and post natal Pilates and are individually selected by Rachel Stephenson, pre and post natal pilates teacher and founder of The Space East.
If possible, it is advisable to have at least one 121 session before going to a regular pre or post natal pilates class. This is essential if you are experiencing any chronic pain or specific problems brought about through pregnancy that need to be addressed.
If you want to consider Private tuition, we can also help you address common pre and postnatal related issues such as back pain, sciatica, pelvic girdle pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, diastasis recti and pelvic organ prolapse.
PRE NATAL PILATES
Pregnancy Pilates is a specialist pilates class that will help you manage the physical and physiological changes of pregnancy and prepare for life with a little one. Pre natal Pilates will address the postural changes and demands throughout each trimester and is suitable right up to birth.
We welcome you to this specialist group class once you have had your 12 week scan and have been approved to exercise by your doctor or midwife.
This class is suitable at any stage during your second and third trimester, right up to birth.

POST NATAL PILATES with BABY MASSAGE COMBO!
Our combination class offers time for baby, and time for mum too.
Combined: Baby Massage & Postnatal Pilates (20mins/40mins)
We welcome newly post natal (8 weeks postpartum or 11 weeks following C- section) clients to our genltle pilates classes. (babies from 6 weeks - crawling)
The first part of the class will focus on connecting you with your baby through the ancient Indian art of infant massage. With attention on a different part of the body each week we'll go over a routine that you'll be able to practise at home.
Baby massage is an enjoyable and effective way of helping you to bond with your baby, meet like minded local mums, and it also helps to improve/relieve the following:-
Digestive problems - including constipation and diarrhoea
Partner/family members bonding with baby
The second part of the class will focus on you!
With a postnatal class designed to help you rebuild from the inside out, we'll concentrate on pelvic floor and core building exercises, plus we'll add in some strength movements for your major muscle groups too.
We'll concentrate on alignment and posture throughout the exercises helping to relieve any tension in your back, and correct any postural issues resulting from pregnancy, birth and the demands of life with a little one.

GENTLE PILATES for POST NATAL CLIENTS
Rebuild your core strength safely following pregnancy and childbirth (even if it was a while ago!)
We welcome you to Gentle Pilates from 8 week post natal (11 following C section)
If you have a Diastasis recti greater than 2cm we would advise you attend a private tuition 121 session first.
(Please note Gentle pilates classes are open to all and are NOT post natal specifc. They are for Mums only, but if you'd prefer to bring your little one along to a class come along to our post natal Pilates with baby massage!)
Learn how to build strength from within through key Pilates exercises. These classes focus on core strength, the abdominal area and pelvic floor, helping to draw your body back together and improve posture
Postnatally Pilates will help to regain strength and stability. This is a great time to build a strong base as you are in a privileged position to work from a plain canvas and will help you deal with the postural demands of life with a little one.
PRE & POST NATAL PRIVATE TUITION 121
It is advisable to have at least one 121 session before going to a regular pre or post natal pilates class if you have any pre or post natal complications such as pre natal high/low blood pressure, PGP, or postnatally diastasis recti or have had a caesarean section. Please note you must have full consent from your GP or midwife to exercise before attending any 121 or group classes.
Private Pilates tuition is also wonderful during pregnancy and postnatally. Pregnancy Pilates will address the postural changes and demands throughout each trimester and is suitable right up to birth. Postnatally Pilates will help to regain strength and stability.
